We have two king bedded rooms with en suites built in 2003 and sharing a private deck. They are next to the heated swimming pool with views to the forest, mountains and cane fields. Everything you need for the perfect holiday base is here. After a day exploring the Daintree or the Atherton Tablelands, or an unforgettable day on the Barrier Reef, you can relax in comfortable arm chairs overlooking our tropical garden full of Heliconids, Hibiscus, and exotic fruit trees while you plan where to go for dinner.
Lots of wildlife in the garden to keep you amused too. Eighty-five species of birds in and over the garden and adjacent road – click here for bird-list. Flashlights supplied for night viewing.
Each room is fully air-conditioned and has a ceiling fan, a king-size bed, plenty of space plus an en-suite bathroom with a shower, a fridge, plunger coffee from Mareeba, local Daintree tea and delicious home-made biscuits. The rooms have their own entrance way and a private deck overlooking the pool. A micro-wave is available

We look forward to assisting you with ideas for trips and tours.
The wonderful Great Barrier Reef experience starts just minutes away in Port Douglas. Great trips in small groups, diving or snorkelling can be easily arranged. Apart from the Mossman Gorge on your doorstep, with its wonderful two kilometre walk through the rainforest there are plenty of other nearby attractions. If you prefer to find your own way round, away from the rush of organised tours, there are many alternatives. We can show you how to see the best the region has to offer using tried and tested directions and suggestions and your own hire car. If you are bird watchers we can tell you all the great sites to visit
Mossman is just a few minutes away by car. It has all the essential services and several well regarded restaurants. The reef trips and entertainment attractions of Port Douglas are fifteen minutes further on. There are long sweeps of beautiful unspoilt sandy beaches at Port Douglas (with a swimming net against stingers between November to April), Cooya, Newell and Wonga beaches all within a fifteen minute drive. Daintree Village and ferry to the Daintree National Park is about twenty-five kms north. Jullaten and the Atherton Tablelands/Cairns Highlands, where it’s cooler than the coast, is a short journey over the Rex range. Cooktown and the dry hinterland west of the Dividing Range is a little further.
Over the Daintree River there is the Daintree Rainforest Environmental Centre with a canopy walkway and tower to look over the rainforest. There are several great free boardwalks, at Jindalba (rainforest), Maardja (forest and mangroves) and Dubuji, off the Cape Trib road. At Dubuji you can walk up Myall beach and cross to Cape Tribulation.
Keep a watch out for Cassowaries north of the river – they are often feeding near the road in the early morning and late afternoon.
Other interesting alternatives away from crowds are the Daintree Entomological Museum with a world-class collection of insects and the Daintree Ice Cream Company – superb ice-cream flavoured with bush ingredients – the perfect end to your trip across the river.
So much to do….make sure that you give yourself plenty of time to do as much as you want. Papillon Bed and Breakfast makes a great base for a holiday – plan to stay for at least three days.
